FREE TREES BEING OFFERED TO HOMEOWNERS
There is a choice of 5 tree species see attached flyer below. This unique program, a partnership between Metro Nashville and the Cumberland River Compact, aims to plant 500,000 new trees by 2050 to create a more equitable, healthy, and climate-resilient tree canopy for Nashville.
What does this mean for you?
Residents in your neighborhoods can receive up to 3 free trees for their homes during the upcoming tree planting season (October through March). See flyer below with more details and a QR code linking to the signup sheet for this program. The deadline to sign up is August 30th.
How can you help?
Please share the information from the flyer below with the residents in your neighborhood and encourage them to consider signing up. My contact information is included on the flyer, so if they have any questions, they can reach out to me directly for assistance. This year, there are 5 tree species to choose from, and I can help them determine which species is best for their situation.
Additional Information:
Churches or other non-residential private properties in your neighborhood are also eligible for this program. If any of them would like more than 3 free trees, they can contact me, and I will connect them with the appropriate resources to facilitate a larger order.
Public Right of Way Initiative:
As part of my role as D-19 Beautification Commissioner, I aim to increase tree planting in the public right of way throughout our district. I am collaborating with Metro Water and several local non-profits to plant and maintain new trees. I am currently building a database to identify potential locations for these trees. If you know of any areas in your neighborhoods that need trees, please let me know, and I will add them to my list.
Thank you for your support in making our community greener and more beautiful.
Best Regards,
Derek Lisle
