THE 2024 EXECUTIVE BOARD ELECTION IS HERE!!
Voting for the 2024 SNNA Executive Board will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 6:00pm during the Neighborhood Community Meeting at 1401 5th Ave N. (The Industrial Marketing Office).

CRITERIA TO VOTE:
-You must be a resident or property owner in Salemtown
-You must be “active” in the current SNNA member database
-Not “active” in the SNNA member database? No problem. It is EASY to sign up at salemtownneighbors.org. Simply select “Join Today” & submit your information.

VOTING OPTIONS:
 -In Person: Attend the November 16, 2023 Neighborhood Community Meeting (info listed above)
-Absentee Ballot:. Simply print a copy of the attached ballot, make your selections, then seal it in an envelope. Write your name, address and email on the exterior of the envelope and ask a neighbor who is attending the meeting to submit it on your behalf or drop it in the mailbox of 1719 5th Ave N.

CINDY EDWARDS
Nominated for President and Secretary
After many visits to Nashville to enjoy the culture, I moved from the Northeast to Salemtown in 2019. I reside at 1820B 4th Ave North with my husband Glenn and two overly friendly pups, Rosie and Rocky. Please stop by and visit to get your puppy fix!

Qualifications: My qualifications for either the President or Secretary position:
Starting adult life as a Special Education teacher, I found the way to engage people is to educate them about a situation, have a vision and goals. That perspective pole vaulted me into several very successful sales positions that turned into “C Suite” positions at three companies. Corporate positions I have held:

* VP Sales & Marketing
* Executive Vice President
* Chief Operating Officer
* President

Serving in the executive roles provided me with a greater understanding and much success for having a vision, goals, operationally building out the entities, mentoring and managing people. My personal goals have been to develop relationships and negotiate what is best for all parties. My experiences will be incredibly valuable serving as the President or Secretary of the Board.

I am currently the VP of Sales for a national entity providing HR, Compliance, Healthcare Benefits, Risk Management, 401K, Payroll & Technology to business owners helping them focus on their core competencies and allowing them to grow their business.

My Goals and Vision for the Salemtown Neighbors Neighborhood Association are:

Develop and implement programs to improve the safety and security in the neighborhood
Increase community engagement and involvement in local events and activities
Advocate for the needs of the neighborhood toward local government and other stakeholders
Foster a sense of pride and ownership among residents
Promote economic development and job opportunities in the area
Improve access to quality education and healthcare services
Enhance the physical environment of the neighborhood through beautification programs

My Commitment to serve:
I’m an energetic person looking to better the neighborhood that I live in and love. Currently I am sunsetting from my career which will provide me with ample time to serve on the Board as President or Secretary.

CAROLYN FREYER
Nominated for Vice President
Andy, my husband and I moved to Salemtown in December of 2021 from Los Angeles, CA. Our favorite part of living in Salemtown, is the urban city feel due to its close proximity to the city, while still having the feel of a small neighborhood community. We love the fact that our neighborhood is still evolving, and that residents can still have an impactful voice about the changes in our community.

Fun fact about the Freyer’s, is that we have moved 27 times since we have been married! Our moves have taken us, coast to coast and overseas 3 times. Due to these moves, I learned the importance of becoming engaged and involved in the communities that we have lived. I have been fortunate to hold leadership roles in both my business world as well as the charitable organizations around the world I have volunteered my energy to.

Over the last year, serving as the SNNA vice president, I have devoted my energy and focus to increasing awareness and involvement of our neighbors in SNNA activities. Over the past year we were able to revitalize our Pink Flamingo parties, and held 13 parties with outstanding participation by both new and established neighbors. We held an end of summer bash at the the Guitar Build Workshop with close to 130 neighbors in attendance. I worked with fellow neighbors to revitalize and develop new means of communications to keep our SNNA members and neighbors informed about the neighborhood and its activities. We now have an updated website that is current and informative. I updated the SNNA mailing list and we now have an efficient means to communicate with our members.

We have our 1st blood drive scheduled in November as well as a family Halloween party planned in October.

My goals for myself and the organization are:

Increase our membership and our member’s involvement in our SNNA activities.
Build a sense of community through neighbor’s participation in committees, activities and clean-ups.
Creation and expansion of committees in SNNA for things our neighbors are passionate about, such as neighborhood beautification, social activities/ events and membership.
Develop safety and security programs by working through partnerships with neighbors and local law enforcement agencies.
Further develop partnerships and relationships with local businesses and our surrounding communities.

DEREK LISLE
Nominated for Member At Large
Derek moved to Salemtown in 2022 with his partner Erin and their dogs, Buddy & Doug, after having lived a block away in Germantown for several years. They love the ability to walk to great restaurants, shops and entertainment while still being in a tight-knit residential neighborhood. He has enjoyed his role as an at large board member of Salemtown Neighbors in 2023.

Derek, a Nashville native, is a real estate developer that has been working to create great residential and mixed-use projects in Salemtown, Germantown and other nearby neighborhoods since 2013 when he founded Place Development Corp. He has a master’s degree in real estate development from Clemson University, where he currently serves on the Advancement Board for Real Estate Development, and he also holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Derek actively volunteers at Room In The Inn, a non-profit that assists the homeless population of Nashville, as a member of the Building Committee and in the Winter Shelter Program.

STEVEN NELSON
Nominated for President & Member At Large
Meet Steven Nelson, a dedicated community leader and recent Salemtown transplant. Having spent the last six years in Virginia, Steven brings a wealth of experience in serving on boards and volunteering for non-profits. In Pennsylvania County, he passionately devoted over two years to working with underprivileged children and single mothers, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

Now, Steven is thrilled to be nominated for the position of President, with his recent success in organizing a neighborhood watch on 7th Ave to combat a string of car break-ins. He is committed to building strong relationships within the community, fostering collaboration between residents and local businesses.

When not engaged in community initiatives, Steven enjoys quality time with his loyal companion, Charlie, a 4-year-old Chocolate Lab. You can often find them at Morgan Park, dedicated to staying active and healthy.

With a vision of increasing awareness and support for the younger professionals who have recently moved to the area, Steven is eager to serve the board and make a positive difference in Salemtown. His dedication and experience make him an ideal candidate for this role.

Goals for Salemtown Neighborhood:

Improve safety and security for residents in the neighborhood by partnering with others through outreach and increasing awareness.
Partner with local businesses and residents to improve our social cohesion towards improving Salemtown via grant money or donations.
Fostering a neighborhood that embraces, empowers, and connects the community where all are proud to live, work, and play.

COURTNEY SCHROEDER
Nominated for Secretary & Member At Large
Courtney moved to Salemtown in June of 2020 with her husband Wesley and great dane, Hemma. They can be found running through the streets while working out in their garage or walking the dog to a local brewery or restaurant. She currently leads a team of consultants in the wellbeing/healthcare space. Aside from physical and emotional health, one of the areas that her team guides organizations is centered around Community wellbeing. It is so important to feel connected while you are at work, at home and in your community. Wesley has taken over the role of sending the Salemtown email communications. They tell people on a regular basis that they “live in, hands-down, the best neighborhood in Nashville”. Getting involved and getting to know neighbors better at the pink flamingo parties over the last two years has been a highlight and she hopes to continue serving the community as a part of the SNNA.

BRAD SNIDER
Nominated for Treasurer
I moved to Salemtown with my wife Shea in 2016 from Louisville, KY after a stint in Chicago. I am from Louisville, KY while Shea hails from Cleveland, OH. I love the proximity to downtown, nearby restaurants, the walkability, and the exciting things that continue to come to our neighborhood!

I am currently a Director at a Top 8 CPA/ Consulting firm, FORVIS. I previously worked as a commercial lender at a regional bank. Overall, I have over 20 years of banking and finance experience working with medium to large community banks and credit unions. In addition, I have been treasurer of Salemtown since 2018. In my free time, I enjoy live music, traveling, playing drums and cheering on my Kentucky Wildcats.

LAUREN STOUT
Nominated for Member At Large
Lauren has been a Salemtown resident since 2017. She originally moved to the area with her son, Knox (10 years old). She is now married to Wes Oakes and has 2 bonus children, Hudson and Beckett Oakes (10/11 years old). You can find her in the weekend cheering on the Titans and hiking or doing fun activities with the kids.

Prior to this role, Lauren has previously served as a Special Events Officer for MPI (meeting planners International) from 2015-2017. Raising over 500k in funds from their annual gala and silent auction, Lauren hopes to bring some of her fundraising and events success into this role and help the community with “call to action” items. She also loves to host and looks forward in bringing the community together through events and social media outreach.
